I will be displaying 6 paintings at The Albion, a terrifically hip bar in Guelph. I will be having a gala mid month (will confirm date shortly). More information is on the way.
This trip was an absolute success in 2009, and an experience that all participants will remember for the rest of their lives. We are excited to offer the same experience this year. We paddled past the former cottage of Group of Seven member Franklin Carmichael. We were immersed into the landscape that inspired many beautiful works, including 'Mirror Lake. I was one of three leaders that took a group of 14-17 year-olds on this adventure. They acquired canoe and camping experience, an appreciation for the outdoors and an understanding of the profound impact our Canadian landscape had on the Group of Seven, and Canadian art as a whole. If you have a teen that might be interested, and for more info - go to http://www.paddlesinaction.com/ This will be an experience that will last a lifetime!
This is new! This is exciting! This is a movement to get kids outside - connecting with nature by using photography. I am on an advisory committee for Focus on Nature. This is just in its initial phases, but this is the essence. Photographers would go into schools and teach kids some of the concepts of photography - the elements of design and what-not. Then they would actually go outside...I'm not kidding, they will actually go outside. The idea is that the camera, will help kids 'slow down' and see the world around them. There has already been some fantastic results from some of the pilot projects. Stay tuned for more exciting news from Focus on Nature.

The Flemings hosted their 5th Hangi at Thistle-Down on July 17, 2010.
We tubed down the Rocky Saugeen, played some volleyball and horse-shoes, and lounged in the sun all afternoon as the Hangi Pits cooked our best meal yet - Chicken, Pork and of course Lamb. The Maori Blessing and Dancing had the crowds' attention captivated, and we welcomed the stars with our evening entertainment, Shane and Danger. If you are interested in being a 'kiwi' for a day, please call 1 519 826 9492. Here are some pictures from the past few years.
I am currently working on compiling a video of this past hangi. It will be part educationaI, part promotional and part hillarious. I will be posting it soon, so stay tuned!!!
